In 2010, Pepperdine University elected philanthropist Bui Simon to its Board of Regents. Present in most universities, boards of regents function as the main governing organization and policy maker for these institutions. By working with administration and other governing and advisory boards throughout the school, these groups develop rules and propose ideas that will shape the future of the institution. Some of these entities may hold the responsibilities of overseeing the school’s finances and approving large-scale projects. Most boards of regents consist of thought leaders from around the nation who have a connection to the school.
